Vidyard vs Vimeo

Hey Everyone,

Does anyone have any thoughts on Vidyard vs Vimeo? We are just starting our video journey and would probably start on basic plans for either. We don't like the Vidyard ad in the free version either. Hoping we don't have to have it if we pay for Pro. We just need a clean way for our sales team to send out videos to prospects, know if they at least started watching a video, and have the ability to trigger a workflow in HubSpot from that event.

Thanks!

For what you are looking for, I think Vidyard is the best way to go. Vimeo is more of a video warehouse whereas Vidyard provides that additional insight that you and your sales team are looking for. I know there are some other options like Loom that I hear good things about, but from someone who personally and whose team uses Vidyard almost every day, it's been a great tool for us.

Lindsey Schmidt   Zach Basner what other tools might you recommend?

Per the HubSpot question at the end,  Jessica Palmeri or  Joe Bachir would Vidyard/Vimeo/Other be able to do what  Alyssa O'Mara  is looking for?

Thanks, Connor DeLaney . Do you use Enterprise? I haven't been able to see what the Basic customization for pages is at the Pro level. I just want to keep the Vidyard branding to a minimum. :-)

Starting at the Teams package you can get the custom branding for Vidyard. I'd agree with Connor. There are other options, check out this comparison article on a similar platform to Vidyard, Wistia:

Vidyard vs Wistia for video hosting. Which is better?

I'll second what  Connor DeLaney  said here. Vidyard is a video solution for sale and marketing. You get all the tracking and analytics you could possibly want. Vimeo may not be the most comparable option. In this case, I would compare Wisita and Vidyard.

With that said, I know you can fully remove all the Vidyard branding and customize the payer page when you sign up for Vidyard Teams (I think the same applies for Pro.) We use Vidyard and can vouch for the HubSpot integration. Not too sure what Wistia offers in that area.

Based on your post I think the workflow trigger you're suggesting may be a lot more difficult to set up than anticipated. The integration is mostly designed for "marketing" videos. Meaning a video that sits on a webpage and doesn't change all that often.

Every time a salesperson sends a video, they create a new video ID (Vidyard calls this a UUID) In order for the workflow to identify the video that was played, you would need to be added to the workflow enrollment criteria every single time the sales team creates a video... read: it's pretty much impossible to manage.

If you can provide more info on what you're specifically trying to accomplish I can help you find a way to make it happen.

Alyssa O'Mara -- forgot to mention this in my original comment but to use the Vidyard / HubSpot integration you need to purchase a Teams+ package. Purchasing Pro or regular Teams does not unlock the workflow functions.

Thanks Nick! Yeah, the Teams plus is way out of our price range. I'll take a look at Wistia and beyond.  As far as what I'm trying to accomplish: I want to know when the viewer is interacting with the video so we can reach out to them while they are thinking about us.

Alyssa O'Mara Vidyard will definitely be your best option if that is the case.

I say that because they are one of the only video solutions that use cookie tracking to attribute video views to a specific contact. This means the person watching your video does not need to have a Vidyard account for you to capture engagement information, a common pitfall is that is found in most comparable solutions like Wistia or Vimeo.

I get pop-up notifications on my desktop when someone watches my videos and emails from Vidyard.

This article I wrote about Vidayrd and HubSpot may help answer some other questions.

Katie Bentz did I get all that right?

You got it, Nick Bennett !

Alyssa O'Mara if you're looking to have video view data flow into HubSpot contact records, Vidyard is the way to go. We have a two way data integration with HubSpot, unlike other video solutions.

Happy to chat further if you wanted to set up a call! :)
